"I have been battling them for four years. This is dumb."
Four years ago, my fiancee passed away and the electricity bills were in his name. I tried to get them switched over and they put them in my brother’s name. They weren’t going to transfer them at all until I cried to customer service. I was trying to get First Energy and to start the PIP program and in order to go to First Energy to get the pip, the meter has to go to the back of the house which would cost about $2,000 to do and the woman at Matt Zone’s office informed me that if that was done there could not be a balance with CPP (Cleveland Public Power) which means I cannot switch because I owe 4,235 dollars.
I called asking about the code and no one knew what I was talking about. I learned from Matt Zone’s office the ordinance that had been on the books since the 1970’s, the language had been changed to now they can shut you off, I am so stressed right now because at the moment I owe them a lot and I know I cannot come up with that in 72 hours. So here I am fighting them again.
I pay what I can monthly. I am on disability and after rent and my phone bill I do not have much. Once the electric goes off I have no gas and no phone. The first time they turned them off my sister-in-law was sleeping and she uses an oxygen tank. I have heart failure and kidney cancer and at an upcoming doctor’s appointment I am pretty sure they are going to tell me I need to have an oxygen tank as well.
I have been battling them for four years. This is dumb.
